Is Your Google Ads Campaign Falling Short?

Correct Campaign Type Selection: What to Check: Ensure the campaign type aligns with your marketing goals. For instance, use 'Search Network' for text ads on Google search results, 'Display Network' for ads on websites, or 'Shopping' for product listings.

Targeting Settings: What to Check: Verify that your targeting settings are appropriate for your audience. This includes geographical targeting (make sure you're reaching the right countries or cities) and device targeting (such as mobiles, tablets, or desktops).

Budget and Bidding: What to Check: Review your daily budget to ensure it’s sufficient to gain significant exposure without overspending.

Also check your bid strategy (what you have chosen to report conversions from your Ads) to see if it is optimized for the tracking. Is it impressions, clicks or conversions?

Keyword Optimization: What to Check: Look at your keywords you have chosen to ensure they are highly relevant what is in your adverts. Check for high-performing keywords that are getting you the best results and consider pausing or adjusting those that underperform or are too costly.

Ad Copy Relevance: What to Check: Each ad should be clear and directly related to the keywords within its ad group. Ensure that your ad copy includes a strong call-to-action and the benefits of your product/service. Also make sure you are taking the visitor to a page where the message matches your ad and keywords.

Quality Score Review: What to Check: Check the Quality Scores or Ad strength of your keywords. This can be found under the heading – Ad strength in your list of Ads. A low or poor score may indicate issues with ad relevance, expected click-through rate, or landing page quality. You may need to add a few relevant words to your landing page to match your adverts. Also adjust your ads and keep monitoring the rating.

Conversion Tracking: What to Check: Ensure conversion tracking is set up correctly on your website and in the campaign. This is crucial for understanding which keywords and ads are driving valuable customer activity.

Negative Keywords: What to Check: Utilise negative keywords to prevent your ads from showing for searches that aren't relevant to your business. This will reduce wasted spend and improve campaign relevancy.

Ad Extensions: What to Check: Make sure you are using ad extensions (these are the extra sections that show on some ads, like a link to an information page) to enhance your ads’ visibility and increase click-through rates. Check if features like site links, callouts, and structured snippets are relevant and updated. Not only do they provide extra information for the searcher but your ads will take up a lot more space and be more prominent compared to an ad without extensions

Performance Metrics: What to Check: Regularly review performance metrics such as CTR (Click-Through Rate), CPC (Cost Per Click), and conversion rates. These metrics will help you gauge the effectiveness of your campaigns and identify areas for improvement. Then keep adjusting to get improvement.
